Privacy policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Solarpunk Solutions (“we,” “our,” “us”), based in Asheville, North Carolina, collects, uses, and protects information you provide through this website. Our practices are designed to comply with the North Carolina Identity Theft Protection Act (N.C.G.S. §§ 75-60 to 75-65), the federal CAN-SPAM Act (15 U.S.C. §§ 7701-7713), and the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (15 U.S.C. §§ 6501-6506; 16 C.F.R. Part 312).

1. What we collect

When you request a free estimate, we collect:

  • Name, email address, phone number;
  • Service address, city, state, and ZIP code;
  • Average monthly electric bill and (optionally) utility rate;
  • Roof orientation, shading, and interest in battery storage.

We do notcollect — through this website — Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, passport numbers, financial-account numbers, or financial-account credentials. None of these are required to generate an estimate. If those categories become necessary later (for example, in connection with a financing application processed by a third-party lender), they will be collected through a separate channel operated by that lender, not through this site.

2. How we use it

  • To generate your estimate and contact you about it;
  • To schedule and conduct a site visit if you proceed;
  • To provide installation, service, and warranty support;
  • To send commercial email in compliance with the CAN-SPAM Act, with a working unsubscribe link in every commercial message and our valid postal address;
  • To comply with applicable law and respond to lawful requests from government authorities.

3. We do not sell your data

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to data brokers, marketing lists, or affiliated installer networks. We do not share your lead information with other solar companies.

4. Estimate data is stored on your device

Estimates you generate on this website are stored in your browser's localStorage so that you can view them again on the same device. That storage is local — the estimate is not transmitted to our servers unless you contact us about it. Clearing your browser data deletes your saved estimates.

5. Service providers

We share information only with service providers necessary to operate our business: our website host (Vercel Inc.), our email provider, and the utility or permitting authorities required to complete your install. Service providers are contractually bound to use your information only for the services they provide to us.

6. Children's privacy (COPPA)

This website is not directed to children under the age of thirteen (13). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information through this site, contact us and we will delete it.

7. Security and breach notification (N.C.G.S. §§ 75-60 to 75-65)

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information. In the event of a security breach affecting unencrypted personal information of North Carolina residents, we will notify affected individuals and the North Carolina Attorney General's Consumer Protection Division without unreasonable delay, as required by N.C.G.S. § 75-65.

8. Cookies and analytics

This website uses only the cookies necessary to operate the site. We do not use third-party advertising trackers or behavioral advertising cookies. If we add analytics in the future, we will update this policy and obtain consent where required by law.

9. Data retention

We retain customer information for as long as needed to provide service and warranty support, and to satisfy tax and legal record-keeping requirements (typically seven years for tax records). You may request earlier deletion of your data, subject to those legal obligations.

10. Your choices

  • Request a copy of the information we hold about you;
  • Request correction of inaccurate information;
  • Request deletion, subject to our tax and legal record-keeping obligations;
  • Opt out of any non-essential commercial email.

We may update this Privacy Policy. We will update the effective date above and, for material changes, provide notice through this website.
